On Friday evening, Feb. 8, a Valentine’s Social was held for the Grade Eights and Nines. The lighting in the gym was poor, but it was balanced by the band which provided some lively entertainment.

A program designed to boost the reading speed of students with a reading deficiency has been installed using the controlled reader.

The FVMPA Public Speaking Contest is nearing, and the students are preparing for the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows district final, which is to be held at our school. Classroom eliminations have been finished, and the school eliminations were held on February 25 and 26. Details of these eliminations will be in next week’s paper.

A trip to Manning Park by buses is planned for Saturday, March 9. The response to the trip has been quite large (i.e., all the seats on the buses have been sold out).
